Be a band that people want to work with

It is key to have a good rapport

It is key to have a good rapport with whoever is paying the band. Be professional, be on time, be sure your equipment works and is clean. If you are not good at dealing with the business side of things and promoters, then find someone who can.

The guys or girls who make it to the top are usually easy to work with. If you show up late and are hard to deal with regardless of the number of tickets sold, you may not be rehired. You always want whoever is booking you to be comfortable that they can send you to places and you won’t be late—you need to be reliable.
