This was once a big cumbersome entertainment center made for a tube TV. I just used a dremel cutting tool to free the nice top from the useless center section. Once that was off, I cut out the center and reattached the top to only the bottom shelving section. Result: instant stand for a flat screen TV that still matches all the rest of the furniture in the room.
