Men Looking For Women: Do/Do Nots of Online Dating Profile Pics

The biggest issue I see with online dating

The biggest issue I see with online dating profiles is the terrible terrible pictures, or lack thereof. So here are some tips on how to post the right kind of photos.

-DO SMILE!!!!: For the love of god, smile in your pictures, men! Or at least don't glare or look sad. Your pictures should look warm and inviting. Why would I want to meet someone who has murder in their eyes???

-Don't Post Pictures of Your Car, Computer, Motorcycle, etc.: The pictures are to see you, not what you own. If you have a picture of you on your motorcycle that's fine, but to post pictures of your items alone is just weird and dumb. This is a dating profile, not a catalogue of your prized possessions.

-Don't Post Pictures of You with Other Women: You want to try and avoid looking like a player. Pictures of you with a bunch of women, even if they are just friends, makes you look like a creep. The pictures are a first impression so do your best to avoid looking shady. A mixed crowd is fine but you alone with a bunch of women is not.

-Do Post More than One Pic: Try and post a variety of pictures. Maybe one by yourself, one out traveling, one with a group of friends, one dressed up, one casual. You want to show how you are a well-rounded person who enjoys a variety of activities. Just one pic does not really tell a story. And a bunch of pictures of you in the same location in the same pose is a waste of time.

-Do Post Clear, Well-Lit Pictures: This should be a given but shockingly it is not.

-Do Orient Your Pictures: Seriously, make sure your pictures show up right and make it so people don't have to turn their laptops sideways to see your picture correctly.

-Don't Post Shirtless Pictures: Unless you are at a beach or pool, shirtless pictures are a no go. Even if you have a great body, pictures of you in the bathroom shirtless just makes you look superficial. And especially don't post those pics if you don't have a great body. Don't lie, but try and show yourself in the best possible light.

-Don't Post Outdated Pictures: Your profile pictures should be at the most, a year old. And they should be pictures of what you look like today. The whole point of a dating site is to meet people in person eventually. So sooner or later, people will see what you really look like. And it is a bad first impression to meet someone, and they see you don't look like your pictures at all.

-Do Post Pictures of Your Face: Seriously, posting pictures of just your body and not your face is really really dumb. If you are concerned about privacy, then you don't need to be on a dating site. Post a picture of all of you or don't even sign up.
