Pack Half-Used Items

When packing for a trip, I always like to use up the things that are almost gone. Going away for a week? What a great time to take that deodorant stick that's 75 percent gone, the only-seven-uses-left tube of toothpaste, and that pair of socks you're convinced is on its last use. Packing things that are almost used up or clothes that are almost worn out is the perfect way to make room for souvenirs -- throw out your used up stuff before you leave and add the stuff you bought! This works for paperback books, too. If you've got a tattered paperback you finished on vacation, leave it in your condo or beach house, or give it to someone else to enjoy before you go.
