Pitching in the Pressure Cooker


Baseball is a team sport but there’s a lot of individuality in it. You’re hitting, you’re hitting by yourself. You’re pitching, you’re pitching by yourself. You field the ball, you field by yourself.

The pitchers need to not get frustrated and avoid trying to do more than they can. Work on strengthening your arm so that you’re able to throw longer and more accurately and better over a period of time. Control what you can control. You can control how strong your arm is and by practicing you can control how accurate you're pitching.

You don’t need 3 pitches when you’re 13. You need maybe 2, maybe 1 at that age. As you get older, you can develop the other pitches but at a young age, focus on mastering 1 or 2.

Baseball is such a mental game, especially pitching, so again, control what you can control and don't get frustrated.
