It seems weird to get up in the morning and brush your teeth before you eat, right? You don't want your coffee or breakfast on top of all that minty freshness, and don't even get me started on the deadly orange juice-toothpaste combo. This was the fun fact that got me to brush before AND after my morning routine: food acts like tiny toothbrushes when you chew it -- especially fibrous breakfast foods like oatmeal, fruit and toast. If you don't brush before you eat, all that bacteria that sat in your mouth is getting brushed off and eaten. Yuck, yuck, yuck! Not only is it nasty to think about, but all that bacteria can cause stomach problems. Brush before and after your first meal of the day to prevent all that grossness.
