Don't Be Afraid To Ask

Losing a love one is hard. Having a friend who has lost a loved one is not as hard, but still a challenge for many people. Most people know to rush to their friend and offer condolences and support. But in the weeks and months after the death, most people never bring up the subject again. Having lost my brother in 2010, I can understand that maybe most people assume I won't want to talk about it. Or are trying to be sensitive by not bringing up what is a sad subject for me. But in reality I always appreciate when someone asks me how I am dealing with it, even if it has been a while since its happened. I remember a few weeks after my brother died, a friend of mine started asking me questions about it. It was so refreshing and nice to just talk it out. So if you know someone who has lost someone close to them, don't be afraid to ask them how they are doing. If you have questions, ask them. They will appreciate that you understand that losing a loved one is not something a person will ever truly get over.
