Binge watching has quickly become one of America's favorite pastimes with the meteoric rise of services like Netflix. All of a sudden, people have been able to find days-worth of spare time to watch every episode of Breaking Bad, and yet finding time to jog can still be a task untackled. Are you a binge-watcher? Here are some tips for making it through every episode, and keeping your life together at the same time.
1. Make sure you've set time aside specifically for watching "Vampire Diaries", or whatever it is the kids are watching these days. Seriously, you need to budget your time. If you manage to just get yourself lost for hours and days in entertainment whilst neglecting everything else in your life, things will turn out badly. Make a plan.
2. Watch two or three episodes at a time. This gives you time to think about plots, subplots, character development, story archs, and all those other story elements we all critically analyze. Give your brain some time to process what is going on. Game of Thrones is hard enough to understand, don't you think?
3. Don't put off other parts of your life to watch. If you have plans to go hang out with friends, don't you dare cancel them to sit in front of the television. The show will be there when you get back. Spending time with the people in your life will not always be so abundant.
4. Get a buddy. Your girlfriend may hate that you're watching all 200-something episodes of the X-Files, but I guarantee there is something about David Duchovny circa-1996 that will get her hooked. And plus, it gives you something to talk about during quiet car rides!
So there you have it. Fire up House of Cards, and go at it. Just don't let everything else in your life sit on the backburner!
