Keep Meal-Starter Meats On Hand


So many recipes start with a pound of ground meat. Make things easier and healthier by purchasing ground beef and ground turkey in large quantities when it is on sale. Cook up a large batch of the two meats mixed together and package them up in one pound portions. Freeze the portions for the next recipe that calls for that one pound of ground meat. The mixed meat will take on the beef taste but will be less fatty thanks to the turkey. Freezer bags or glass containers work best, as plastic containers can get brittle in the freezer.
