Lighting a barbecue

My auto starter stopped working recently. After a few attempts where it just clicked but nothing happened, I resorted to using a match. I just about blew off my hair off when it ignited--this was due to the heavy propane buildup from the failed auto starter lighting attempts. Anyway, a few days later-- after cleaning the barbecue which for me is a rarity--I noticed a loose part attached to something--I followed the parts 'path' and realized it was the auto starter. I repositioned the loose part and voila--the barbecue now starts again with the auto starter! Not sure what the tip is--but I guess it starts with cleaning your barbecue regularly.
