Never Underestimate Persistency

When I graduated college in May 2012, I was ready to search job openings, confident that with my new degree I was fully employable.

After looking through a dozen or so openings, I realized that no matter what job I searched, I lacked about five years experience and a masters degree. I was discouraged by this for a while, lamenting having spent tens of thousands on my degree just to still be unemployable and unable to pay it back.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine who graduated at the same time as me and with the same degree kept telling me about the number of interviews she had been called to do, and so I demanded for her to reveal her secret.

Instead of being scared away by the job descriptions, she applied and submitted her resume to employers anyway. This then showed the employers that she wasn't afraid to take a chance and that she was confident in her abilities despite not having met the full qualifications. She also would call their office about a week or so after submitting her resume to make sure it was received and to see if they had any questions.
