New Cashier? Keep These In Mind

During my 3 months as a cashier one summer I learned a few things:
1. Be fast but accurate. Keep that till drawer balanced. If you're working in a supermarket several thousand dollars will go through your hands even on a slow day (thank goodness for debit/credit cards!)
2. Smile. Not creepily though.
3. Don't have conversations w/ co workers when a customer is there.
4.Sit down on your breaks. Standing for 8 hours is unnatural.
5.Bring your own lunch.
6.Don't gossip. You'll likely be working with a lot of young, immature people.
8.Sit outside during your break. Get away from the noise.
9.Keep your till drawer closed when not in use.
10. When making change, keep arms up on bills that you're using until transaction is complete.
11. Don't EVER let a customer tell you that they already paid for something in another line. Ask to see the receipt. Pay attention to those dates on receipts.
