No use denying it

I spent over 20 years at sea ending up as a chief engineer on big ships such as oil tankers. It took a while after being diagnosed, but I concluded that there was no use in denying that I had Parkinson's disease. The disease was not going to disappear. I chose to announce my ailment rather than hide it and I also learned to accept assistance from others. After I started to think about Parkinson’s in a more positive way, I started to feel like I was taking control of ‘my ship’ again.
