Shin Splints: How Do I Know I Have Them?

1. Shin splints will take place in your lower leg along the shin, below the knee and just above the ankle.
2. Tight calf muscles often go hand in hand with shin splints. There is more stress on the weaker muscles in the shin to try and keep up with the much stronger calf muscles.
3. “Splitting” pain in lower leg/shin area when taking part in sports and activities that involve a lot of running
4. The inability to “stretch out” the pain. The pain doesn’t seem to go away other then when resting.
