Friends have asked me, “Why should you blame yourself for money that was lost because one of your employees spent funds that he had not been authorized to do?” My answer has always been that, had proper financial checks and balances been in place, none of it would have happened. Accepting that I was partially responsible for creating many of my business challenges made me feel that I had some control, and did not allow me to blame others for my difficulties.
