Tips for Ordering Lunch at a Food Truck

There's a food truck that posts up outside

There's a food truck that posts up outside of my place of employment. It's called "Big Boys Filipino Food Truck", and the guy who runs it, Nate, is awesome. I just feel bad when I see simpletons pulling the same stupid stunts on him day in and day out. After talking with him about it, I decided to share the tips he gave me for ordering from him, or any other curbside dining option.

1.Order from the menu!
Many people like to request special things from restaurants, but food trucks are a little different. They only have available what they can fit in the truck. Look at the menu and select from what they have, or any slight variation. For example, the fellas in a Filipino food truck cannot and will not make you a lasagna sandwich. Believe me, I asked. So stick to what they have, and make life easier for the people in the truck and the people stuck in line behind you.

2. Don't use big bills to pay!
Once a day or so, Nate has to come find me to see if I can break a $100 bill. That's right, somebody ordered some garlic cheese fries that cost $4, and dropped a Benjamin on the poor guy. That's going to wipe out all of his change. So don't pay with a $50 or $100.

3. Be Nice!
Often times trucks can get swarmed by people on their lunch breaks, leading to long lines and a bit of a wait. And when people are forced to queue (as they say in England), tempers can flare. So keep it together. You're an adult. Wait patiently like everyone else. They're all doing their best. If you don't want to wait, you can always count on the quality craftsmanship of a McDonald's Filet-o-Fish or whatever. So be nice, or stick to chicken nuggets.
