Tired? Have a test or paper due in less than 24 hrs?

Are you so tired that you can't keep your eyes open but you have a test or paper due in less than 24 hours?

We're not even going to discuss your poor time management skills or the fact that you probably were aware of this paper or test for about two weeks already (oops, we just did)....

If the paper isn't a long one that will require a lot of your brain power or effort, and if the test is something where the material isn't too complicated (say, for a lit exam about a novel your class read recently) here's what you should do:

Go to sleep. Yes. Well...not to "sleep" sleep. Take a nap. Set your alarm for 15 minutes (no longer than this or you'll be even more tired) and take a nap either at the desk, in your bed, or on the floor (hey, it works for me). When the alarm goes off--GET UP! Go splash cold water on your face and hop to your assignment. That brief siesta will charge you and give you the energy you need to actually study or write at least halfway decently.

If the situation is dire, (hard test, long paper, and only a few hours left?) look at the syllabus concerning late papers or missed exams and see if you can afford to turn your paper in the next day or make up that exam and in the future manage your time and priorities better.
