Vulnerable Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a lesser-known form of narcissism that often hides behind sensitivity, self-doubt, and a fragile sense of self-worth. Unlike the overt, grandiose narcissist who thrives on dominance and attention, a vulnerable narcissist struggles with feelings of inadequacy, fear of rejection, and hypersensitivity to criticism. They may appear withdrawn or anxious, but deep inside, they harbor a strong need for validation and recognition. Some common traits include difficulty handling perceived slights, emotional defensiveness, envy of others’ success, and oscillating between feelings of superiority and insecurity.
