1. Invest in actual heavy-weight resume paper. I know it seems pretty crazy since the internet takes care of most things these days, but never underestimate actually handing your resume in.
2. After an interview, always send a handwritten thank you letter. An ex-supervisor of mine once told me that she would never consider a candidate that didn't follow up an interview with a thank you note.
