Beware Sleepy Foods!


People always say that holiday dinners make them sleepy and put them into a "food coma." It's true! Meat, especially turkey, has high levels of tryptophan, which causes excessive sleepiness. When you mix that meat with starches (like buttery mashed potatoes) you're left with a hard-to-digest combo that packs a serious sleepy punch. Other foods contain tryptophan in high enough levels to make you tired, so if you need to be perky, steer clear of cheese, nuts and shellfish, too!
