Carving a pumpkin is one of my absolute favorite fall activities, but those awesome jack-o-lanterns seem to get moldy and gross practically overnight! Stop decomposing pumpkins in their tracks with this trick: Grab one or two of those little silica packets you get in shoe boxes (you'll probably be surprised to find a bunch lying around in your closet). Open the packet and sprinkle the beads in the bottom of your jack-o-lantern. The silica beads will keep your pumpkin fresh at least one week longer.
