Mitch Berger--Football and perseverance

Achieving my dream was not luck, but serious persistence and continual practice.  I had to swallow my pride many times.  The only sure way not to succeed is to stop going for your goal.  You have to believe in yourself and your talent, but ensure your assessment of your ability is correct by listening to the people whose opinions you can trust.  It is this philosophy that allowed me to survive such a long period, when every door seemed closed. Never quit going for your goal!

Bio: Mitch Berger is a kicker in the NFL.  By the end of 1995, Mitch had been rejected by five teams in two years.  He returned home and began to work at a gas station.  He continued to pursue his dream and later caught had a tryout and this time he was given a chance to play regularly. He eventually became a Pro Bowl kicker. Provided by:   www.survivingadversity.com
